O Brother, Where Art Thou? was based on the Odyssey?!
I never knew that, but I guess the plot summary ought to explain everything: They are confronted by a series of strange characters, including the sirens, a cyclops, and a blind prophet, who warns the trio that "the treasure you seek shall not be the treasure you find."
Still, I didn't really enjoy the movie because it didn't make sense. Maybe I will enjoy it more if I view it from Greek myth perspective.
