The Bush Administration, in breaking with past precedents, refuses to pay for the inauguration expenses because it believes that money used for Homeland Security is sufficient. Unfortunately, the D.C. is already using the money, and though some can be diverted to the inauguration festival, there are still $11.9 million to pay.
I. Am. Amazed.
Either the District of Columbia will suffer this burden anyway, or if they cut spending on the security and inauguration-related elements, the officials have incredible faith that nobody will attack them on that day.
